    Dave Parr, Physical Therapist

    PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Growing up in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, I learned the negative impact that a high-stress lifestyle can have on pain. Each person’s experiences in life are unique to them and I want to create a comfortable therapy experience that celebrates this uniqueness. As a college baseball pitcher with reoccurring shoulder issues, I learned the value that a positive therapy experience can have on an individual. While attending therapy myself, I never dreaded or avoided the experience because of the fun and productive environment that my therapist created for me. I want to create this same experience for each and every one of my patients. My clinical rotations afforded me the opportunity to work with a large variety of populations. I have worked with collegiate-level athletes returning to their sport through the largest Orthopedic Surgeon Group in Ohio, Cincinnati Sports Medicine, and I have worked with individuals returning from strokes/spinal cord injuries/traumatic brain injuries at Younkers Rehabilitation in Des Moines. “Throughout my large variety of experiences, the one theme that remains constant is maximizing movement maximizes function. Life is better when you are functioning at your highest level.” In my spare time, I enjoy running, exploring the Des Moines area with my girlfriend, and watching Chicago sports (especially the Cubs).
